INTERVIEW - Rita Carter (RBC Bluesfest 2018 Series)

RITA CARTER - 7:30PM - Barney Danson Theatre

Ottawa's Rita Carter will be performing with Aspects on July 13th at RBC Bluesfest. We caught up with Rita, and got to know her a bit better! Check out the interview below!

Q: How long have you been performing? How long have you been performing with Aspects?

A: Since I was a kid!  Since August 2007!

Q: Describe the sound of your music.

A: Solo - R & B Street Folk. With Aspects - Folk Hop/Blues/Acoustic/Country/Soul

Q: Have you released any new material recently? If not, do you have anything on the way?

A: Solo - "Wake Up" single & my album "All of We" will be released Fall 2018. With Aspects - "Mercy" & "2U" singles, plus an album coming soon before end of year.

Q: It's going be a hot and sweaty festival, once again! How do you plan on keeping cool while on stage?

A: We play in the Barney Danson Theatre so the A/C should do!

Q: Musically, what are your plans for the rest of the summer?

A: I will be headlining SOUL CITY MUSIC FEST on JULY 28! Releasing some visuals to help promote "All of We", prepare for tour, and my big show at the NAC on December 7, 2018.

Q: What local artists are you listening to right now that other people should check out?

A: Cody Coyote, City Fidelia, Missing Linx, Tapas, King Kimbit, Kimberly Sunstrum, Blakdenim, Night Lovell, A Tribe Called Red, Aspects, Doressa, Jessie Simmons, Sixonetrey, Flight Distance, Buck & Nice, Moonfruits, etc. Anyone putting in work #forthecity, I am a fan of!
