INTERVIEW - Kelsey Hayes (RBC Bluesfest 2018 Series)

Ottawa's Kelsey Hayes has been busy in the last few years! Like, touring in CHINA busy! She's fresh off of the release of her sophomore EP, and she's ready to hit the big stage at RBC Bluesfest! We had the chance to chat with Kelsey before the festival. Check out the interview below!
Q: How long have you been performing?
A: I’ve been performing my original music professionally for the past three years
Q: Describe the sound of your music.
A: I would describe my music as adult-alternative with a flair of pop.
Q: Have you released any new material recently? If not, do you have anything on the way?
A: I released my second EP recently in February 2018
Q: It's going be a hot and sweaty festival, once again! How do you plan on keeping cool while on stage?
A: My band and I played a 47 degree show on Canada Day. We brought a big cooler filled with water, Gatorade and frozen towels. Before and after we got on stage we cooled down with those. We’re planning on using the same technique at Bluesfest!
Q: Musically, what are your plans for the rest of the summer?
A: My musical plans for the rest of the summer are playing shows in Toronto and a few in Ottawa.
Q: What local artists are you listening to right now that other people should check out?
A: I’ve been listening to Apollo Rising, Subtle Curves and Moonfruits recently! They’re all awesome!
