Ottawa Valley native Brea Lawrenson is a Canadian country music success story. With songs on the charts, and spending her time playing festivals all over the country as well as writing and recording in Nashville, Brea knows how to stay busy. This week she brings it home to play Ottawa’s biggest festival: RBC Bluesfest.
“Being on The RBC Bluesfest Line up is an incredible opportunity that means so much to me because I will always be able to say that I have played the same stage as all of the headliners I look up to, Kane Brown, Elle King, Eric Church, The Killers etc.”
Brea has been singing and playing music for a long time now, even releasing her first album of original music when she was just 15! It’s been a long road, but it seems to be paying off, getting to open up for Brett Kissel and Megan Patrick earlier this summer. Big shows and touring can be a hectic life, but luckily Brea doesn’t have to go it alone.
“I am so lucky to have a band and to tour with all the same great guys all the time! Some of my players have toured and played for Johnny Reid, Jason Mccoy and Charlie Major. They are great musicians. We have been playing together for about 5 years now and traveling all around the valley and even all the way to The Cavendish Beach Fest in PEI!”
Brea and the band are going to have a busy summer after Bluesfest as they are set to open for Canadian country stars Tebey and Jason Blaine. But if she makes a fan out of you at Bluesfest, you’ll have lots of chances to catch her playing around Ottawa this summer.
Be sure to catch Brea Lawrenson and her band at Bluesfest on the City stage Thursday, July 11th at 6PM. Her new single “The Radio” w as released to country radio last week and is available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and more.
